Alexa is a Kelowna, BC–based emerging artist currently completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Working across a wide range of media, she embraces experimentation as a core part of her practice; however, painting—particularly in oil and acrylic—remains at the heart of her work. Her multidisciplinary approach allows her to select materials intuitively, responding to the conceptual and emotional needs of each piece.

Her practice centers on themes of fantasy and identity. Through layered imagery, expressive colour, and imaginative visual language, she explores the tension between inner worlds and outward perception. Fantasy becomes both an escape and a lens—an entry point into conversations about selfhood, vulnerability, protection, and transformation. By blending reality with imagined elements, her work invites viewers to reflect on their own evolving identities and the narratives they construct about themselves.

Alexa’s work has been exhibited locally, including school exhibitions at the Kelowna Art Gallery and in collaboration with the company Meet Me on Barnard, expanding her presence within the community. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to making art that is accessible and engaging beyond academic spaces.

As she completes her undergraduate studies, Alexa hopes to pursue a career as both a working artist and an art educator. She is passionate about fostering creativity in others and believes in the transformative power of art as a tool for self-discovery, dialogue, and connection. Through both her studio practice and future teaching, she aims to cultivate spaces where imagination and identity can be explored freely.
